Arriving in the UAE

Abu Dhabi

Rugby Fans
After a 14 hour flight from Toronto I finally landed in Abu Dhabi!  I was very tired as I found it impossible to sleep in the cramped seat sandwiched in between two other people.  As soon as we were off the plane we were greeted with several people that gave us roses to welcome us! It was a nice touch after a long 24 hours. I met several other teachers in the airport who were also going to the same Hotel as me! After a long line-up to get our Visitor Visas we were escorted onto a bus that would take us to the Beach Rotana Hotel! The Hotel is very beautiful and the people working there are very good to us! Although I was very tired I was unable to sleep more than a few hours.  Jet Lag is NOT a good thing! The next few days I spent meeting the many teachers also staying at the Hotel. So far I've met teachers from New Zealand, Australia, UK, South Africa, U.S.A., Ireland and Canada! Went to a Rugby game with several ladies from New Zealand and Australia.....there was alot of cheering for these rival teams. Had a great time...and the beer wasn't bad either! Looks like we'll have a couple of days off to catch up on our sleep before orientation starts!
